Riistetyt
Riistetyt are a hardcore punk band from Tampere, Finland. The English Wikipedia article describes them as one of the early Finnish groups to play hardcore punk, following Rattus and Kaaos.
Formation and continuity
The group was formed in 1981 as Cadgers. After recording a split 7-inch with Kaaos, the band changed its name to Riistetyt. Its first period of activity ran from 1981 to 1985; it reunited in 1991 and has remained active since. In Finnish, “Riistetyt” can mean “the exploited,” “the deprived,” or “the oppressed.”
Music and touring
Riistetyt are associated with hardcore punk and punk rock, and have been described as pioneers of hardcore in Tampere. Their documented touring has included Europe, Brazil, and the United States.
Members
The lineup has changed over time. Lazze has been the principal vocalist since 1981. Piise played bass from 1981 to 1983 and returned to that role in 2008. The current-members section of the English Wikipedia article lists Lazze (vocals), Arttu (bass), Vege (guitar and backing vocals), and Seve (drums).
Selected recordings
As Cadgers, the band released a 1981 split with Kaaos. Riistetyt recordings listed by the English Wikipedia article include Laki ja järjestys (1982), Valtion vankina (1983), Skitsofrenia (1983), Raiskattu tulevaisuus (1984), Tuomiopäivä (1991), Tervetuloa kuolelma (2000), Kuka Valehtelee? (2001), Orjat ja Kurjat (2003), Kahleet (2005), Kuolonhymnejä (2009), and Korppien Paraati (2013). The same source calls Valtion vankina the band’s first full-length album and describes it as a classic.
