It is recognized as one of the oldest continuously operating music venues in the Columbia area, renowned for hosting live music performances every day of the year. The venue’s name is derived from the old name for West Columbia, where it was previously situated.

Throughout its history, New Brookland Tavern has been a significant fixture in the live music scene, hosting a wide array of artists and bands across various genres. In 1998, the venue was featured on an episode of WCW Monday Nitro, highlighting its cultural relevance. The late 1990s and early 2000s saw performances from bands such as Collapsis, Death Cab for Cutie, Our Lady Peace, and Bayside. The venue continued to attract notable acts like Taking Back Sunday, My Morning Jacket, Brand New, Rilo Kiley, and Hopesfall in the early 2000s.

As the years progressed, New Brookland Tavern maintained its reputation as a hub for diverse musical acts. The mid-2000s featured performances by Panic! at the Disco, Paramore, Mayday Parade, and Band of Horses. The venue also hosted A Day to Remember, Portugal. The Man, and Between the Buried and Me, showcasing its commitment to a wide range of musical styles.

The 2010s brought further diversity to the venue’s lineup, with appearances by Anberlin, Hawthorne Heights, Black Veil Brides, Frank Turner, The Joy Formidable, and Toro y Moi. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, which led to a temporary halt in live performances, New Brookland Tavern adapted by hosting online live stream concerts to continue engaging with its audience.

In recent years, the venue has continued to host a variety of acts, including Soulfly, Texas Hippie Coalition, and (hed) p.e. The venue’s relocation to the historic Cotton Gin building in Five Points marks a new chapter in its storied history, allowing it to continue its legacy as a cornerstone of the Columbia music scene.
